Even if you’re not a hunter, there are still many incredible rewards waiting to be claimed beyond the maze-like corridors of Torghast. In this raid, players will battle 9 bosses before facing off against the Banshee Queen herself. Think you’ve got what it takes to come out on top? Read on to learn more about the lore, bosses, and rewards that await you on this epic adventure.
The Lore Behind the Raid
After an eternity spent bound within The Maw, the Jailer and his immensurable troops assemble as he extends its frontiers to consume Oribos. In the face of obliteration. Bolvar musters his last remaining allies to barge into the core of Torghast and interrupts the Jailer before it’s too late.
Finding and Queueing the Raid
In order to queue for this second raid installment for Shadowlands, players must have a minimum item level of 195. Once you’ve got that, you’re ready to enter, that is if you’re prepared for a long journey full of bloodshed. The entry point to the portal is located at the northernmost part of Desmotaeron within Beastwarrens. This area of the Maw is riddled with Margrave Vyraz and Helya’s servants, lying idly by as they wait for your encounter. If you try to avoid them by going around Helgard Keep, you will be met by elites that will make your trip deadly if spotted. While there are many challenges to surviving the journey, Matthew Rossi provides an in-depth guide to finding the portal to the Sanctum of Domination, that you can use to help get you closer to those epic rewards mentioned before.
Shadowlands Sanctum of Domination Bosses
Once you’ve entered the portal, you’re ready to slay some enemies. The first boss encountered is the Tarragrue. This rare, elite NPC is the Jailer’s unrelenting beast that has slain many a WoW gamer. This two-phase encounter starts with raiders fighting off four Infused Goliaths. Each one drops an Anima Orb that can be used to activate special Anima Powers which provide you with a boost to help you to eliminate the Tarragrue. Next up is The Eye of the Jailer. Originally a trade from Odyn, the Jailer corrupted the eye to further his own ends and now uses it to observe all that ensues within his turf and (supposedly) beyond. Once The Eye of the Jailer is defeated, players advance to the next boss, The Nine. The Nine are the val’kyr warriors Sylvanas call upon to fight for her. This battle is fought primarily against the last 3 remaining sisters: Kyra, Signe, and Skyja. In the first wave, Kyra and Signe act as the first line of defense against the raiders, while Skyja calls the rest of the val’kyr to attack. After either Kyra or Signe reaches a health level of 20%, the second wave begins and Skyja enters the battle to take matters into her own hands. After players have successfully slaughtered the Nine, they then advance to the next boss in the lineup, Remnant of Ner’zhul. Once he’s done, Soulrender Dormazian is your new challenge. Dormazian is responsible for extracting anima from the prisoners of Torghast to fuel the Jailer’s military. In this encounter, players must prevent Garrosh Hellscream from being tortured. If players can keep Hellscream from the grasp of Dormazian, they move on to a new two-phase battle against Painsmith Ranzal. As his name suggests, Ranzal is an expert in dishing out pain to his enemies. Terminating this sadistic mastermind is all based on your ability to intellectually utilize the small encounter space, and dodge a variety of spikes while sustaining an exorbitant amount of raid damage. After defeating Painsmith Ranzal, you’re then met by the Guardian of the First Ones. This single-phase encounter consists of a guardian whose energy is constantly depleted then refilled by the Three Energy Cores. This is your DPS and healer check in the raid, where the boss possesses few mechanics and a very short enrage time. After eliminating the Guardian of the First Ones and Fatescribe Roh-Kalo (the boss that follows), your next foe is Kel’Thuzad. In this three-phase encounter, raiders must defeat him before the area freezes over with ice and ends the raid. Once you’ve gotten through all 9 previous bosses, you’re ready to wrestle with the Dark Lady herself. As the Jailer’s last defense against the raiders, players will progress through three phases of epic battling to bring her to her demise. In phase one, players will battle against Sylvanas at the top of the Sanctum of Domination, then follow her all the way to the Arbiter’s platform in Oribos where the final phase begins.
